By thursday, the start of my observation, I met the Grade 8 - A. There topic is about lingkaran (circle). Ibu Ros drew a circle on the board using a big protractor . Afterwards, she let the students identify the parts of the circle based on the definition.
Then, there is a group activity. Ibu Ros, prepared some pictures of circles. The students should identify if the picture or the image is circle or not. If it is circle, the students should write the parts of the circle seen in that image.

The planning for the lesson is really evident in the discussion. She prepared the material and the discussion is more on letting the students explore. When it comes to the teaching methods, Ibu Ros satisfied a lot of good points. The method she used is not spoon feeding. It is kind of learner- centered approach. She drew the circle on the board and she let the students identify the parts of it that satisfies the definition. For me, it was good. The preparation for the lessons and materials was well done. However, it could be better if she has an activity that the student should draw a circle on their own using a compass or a protractor or even paper folding using a piece of paper. Another,is that, to make it more contextual, maybe she let the students brought items that is circle and they will identify
if that items is really a circle or not and they will identify the parts of it.
In evaluating students performance, the group activity is well done but it could be better if the pictures she gave has a good layout or clear and there should be an instruction or maybe she used technology like PowerPoint but the activity is challenging though. In individual assessment, Ibu Ros draw another circle and the students should identify its parts. The students will write their answers using their papers. However, I noticed that she didn't erase the board so the tendency is they will copy it. In another item, this is more challenging because the radius has a value and they have to find the value of the missing parts.
Overall, the teaching was well done. I thought that there are still a lot of traditional teachers in Indonesia. But, as what I observed, the teachers there are somewhat the same with the teachers in our country. Ibu Rosminta showed a learner-centered type of a teacher and I admire her for that.
During the vacant period, I met the grade 9 students -Naufal, Reivica, and Vanessa
